A LITTLE BREAK...

Hello and thanks for stopping by!

So I've decided to take a little break to refresh, recharge and regroup.  I don't want to get to the point where I am struggling to post something wonderfully creative and inspiring on Monday mornings.  I am feeling that way today and that tells me that after a couple of years of doing this bliggidy blog thing, I need a little break. I curate this space from the heart and I hope that is what keeps it interesting for you. So off I go for a little unstructured time in the mornings to exercise, catch up on other things, and hopefully create some space in my head for refreshing and fun things to explore.

If you feel like looking around while you are here, I'd be honored if you did. You can find things in the sidebar to read, or check out Canvas Interiors to see what's new in the store.

see you soon,

CANVAS INTERIORS NEW ARRIVALS

Popping in today with some new arrivals at the store.  I am headed there today to snap a few more pics but had to share these pieces... I am loving the texture on the bench, and the sculptural lines of that chair are so inviting.  The sofa is a perfect combo of just the right amount of tailored and relaxed. And the Lennox coffee table has been a favorite of mine forever. We have it in our family room  - it is indestructible. While looking stylish all the while, it has been road tested with Legos, Hotwheels and sticky fingers. Win/win if you ask me.

If you have questions about anything you see here feel free to email the store at

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

TOTALLY RANDOM

Hello! I hope your week is off to a good start.  Welcome to

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

1. Street style in Milan from the ladies of Vogue, really what more do you need to say?

2. The Design Chaser is a favorite blog of mine - check out this home in a former pencil factory in Denmark.

3. The perfect denim jacket - look no further than J. Crew (and 25% off right now online!)

4. I saw this image on Pinterest and it struck me as such a refreshing take on a nursery. I spend a lot of time trying to track Pinterest images back their original source. In doing so I find all kinds of fun things, including this blog and the designer of the nursery:   Bijou and Boheme (from a Canadian - even better).

5. This is a fantastic idea made even more so for me because it is a double happy whammy - A Canadian magazine (born and raised in Toronto I was) featuring a crazy talented company that is less than a mile from my home in FL.  Two worlds colliding in a fabulous way. Check out this amazing idea from House and Home featuring Rifle Paper Co.

MOTO BOOTS

As I'm sure you have seen, moto is everywhere.  I've talked about the jackets recently, but today its on to the boots. I have long had a pair of moto boots that I wore pretty much daily in SF with skirts and tights, or cuffed jeans. They have been sitting in the back of my closet for a few years and I am happy to bring them out this fall. I spent more than I usually would on this pair of boots but here is where it pays off. I wore them day in and day out in SF, they are still in great shape and about to get a second run.

I am really picky about the moto thing - there are so many versions to choose from but a lot of them a tad over the top for my taste. So I've tried to curate a few here that are a simple (canvasstyle) version of the trend.  Clean lines, not too wide and clunky, not too much bling.

Here is a selection for you and I will warn you most of them are spendy. This is one category where I try my best to find the 'score' but I vote for splurge here, score on the jacket.

Happy Monday and happy shopping!

NEW ADDITION

I just have to share the new addition to the family. No, not a puppy or a fish or a turtle. I awoke to two very large delivery guys in our house at 6:45am (huh?!) delivering our new... dining table. To be perfectly transparent here - we have lived in this house for 3 years and not had a dining table in our 'salon'.  Something about the shoemakers children ???? We had to find the perfect one that we both loved and this was one area we struggled with until we decided on this one. And now we are both gushing with happiness.

After the dust settled and the littles were whisked to school, Mr. K and I sat like proud parents staring at it with our coffee.  Had to share a few snaps:

These chairs are on their way...

...and I have my eye on a giant piece of art for the wall.

We waited a long time to find just the right thing for the salon. She's here and she's gorgeous.

TOTALLY RANDOM

Hello!  I hope you are having fun discovering things in this series:

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

1.  I am on the hunt for a vintage inspired cocktail dress. This one is real (as in old) and sold on 1st dibs but it is fueling my desire to find one.

2.  This console table is a crazy good price at canvas interiors - on sale for $299 and look at image #4, can't you just see it? I found image #4 first, which then sent me on an 'if I were furniture shopping' exercise to our site.  Thought I'd share the results.

3.  On the hunt for a coated black jean that is just right. Not too tight, not too shiny, not to expensive, and not too fake looking.  Wish me luck.  Maybe this one?

4. I love the crisp white and grey feeling in this room, which inspired me to dig up image #2 from the store.  With a little inspiration and the right resources you can style a pretty fabulous room.

5. These two women are such a creative duo, I love checking in on their collaborations.  Check out Ann Street Studio and Kelly Framel's latest work together.

ENJOY!

INSPIRE // DESIRE: moto jackets

As we have seen of late the moto vibe is a big feeling for fall. This is one category where high/low is really a fun game! There are so many options available and the faux leather moto is so everywhere right now. I go for the less ornate, clean lined version. I do love a little quilting if I am going to choose a trendy bit.

Here are a couple of images to

CANVAS INTERIORS WEEKEND GETAWAY

The kids are back in school and life has shifted from summer adventures to thinking about fall break. October is right around the corner and I love the promise of cozy weekends. Our reality here in FL is that fall break temps will probably still dictate flip flop weather. So I can dream.

I put together a moodboard for the store, pretending I was headed to upstate New York to a fabulous countryside bed and breakfast. Apple picking and antiquing in a cozy sweater.

I invite you to take a little drive in your imagination to Canvas Interiors for a weekend getaway...
 Are you there yet?

Lille baskets // Manhattan throw // Alexander lamp // Virginia cube (put 4 together for a great coffee table)

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

Hello and welcome to:

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

1.  I just got lost in happy land - have you checked out Zazzle?  You can customized just about anything.  Looks like a cool place to work let alone customize a cosmetic bag for your bestie's bday.

2. Ryan. Ryan Gosling. Wallpaper. In the ladies room. How fun and fabulous is that?!

3. Atlantic-Pacific is one blog I never tire of. She has fabulous taste and direct links to shop each item she is wearing. This outfit had me scrambling to Zara to order the shoes. Got shipping confirmation, they are on their way. If only the ASOS 'bonjour' sweater wasn't sold out. As you may guess from yesterday's post I have the jeans covered. Got this cute blazer from H & M the other day. Excited to pull a new ensemble together using my trusty jeans and striped T.

4.  Slightly obsessed with Jenni Kayne - a great article in Lonny mag

5. crisp white and soft grey tones stopped me in my tracks - thank you sfgirlbybay for always delivering amazing content.

Enjoy !

INSPIRE // DESIRE : CUFFED JEANS

Good afternoon!  If you are checking back after tuning in thismorning, the webwaves are working again and here is a complete post for you. If you are just tuning in, welcome to Monday's INSPIRE // DESIRE.

Those of you who know me know that I have cuffed my jeans for eons.  My go-to look year round in San Francisco was cuffed jeans and moto boots.  Now in Florida, my wardrobe staple is...you guessed it cuffed jeans. Insert cute strappy heels, TOMS, flat sandals, or Converse and you have the picture. I roll up my skinny cargos too.

Here are some images to

SAWYER BERSON

I have been studying rooflines lately. We are planning an addition on the back of our house and we have slightly complicated rooflines. So I went on a little Pinterest journey and found not just rooflines but exquisite interiors.

Here is how it started: I came across this image from Sawyer Berson on Pinterest
(via Paloma Contreras of La Dolce Vita)

...and dug in further hoping to find an example of what we could do for our breakfast room addition off the back of our house.

What I found was and endless treasure trove of eye candy from the incredibly talented Sawyer Berson. This architectural, landscape architecture and interior design firm has been well published and works in various styles, each one perfectly curated. You can see from the front door to the back yard, the look of their design aesthetic is seamless and impactful.

I proceeded to dig further through their site, grab Mr. K and make him look at it with me as he nodded quietly (that's a good thing).

(bonus image: this is exactly what we are looking to add to our kitchen area)

What started as a roofline journey brought me to interiors where I found not only an image of the breakfast nook we are trying to create, but a whole Canvas Interiors feel-good moment.

I love the look and feel of these interiors - they exemplify the core concept of what we created with the store. Easy, well curated, washable, elegant. Sunny, light, white and lots of sisal. I even see a few things we carry in the store in these interiors which tickles me. It is this vibe that I saw in my head when Mr. K and I first started talking about the concept of store and I created a gagillion moodboards of the look and feel. The boards still sit in the back office of the store and get referred to from time to time. A wonderful journey from rooflines to moodboards. Thank you Sawyer Berson for this enjoyable ride.

ps: wondering what the item is that I spotted?  It's here

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

Hi, and hope you had a great weekend.  Here is today's

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

clockwise from left:

1. I'm feeling the crunch of time as it relates to blogging so I dug up this post by vmac & cheese on blogging time management. If you are a blogger or thinking of starting one this is a great read.

2. I'm trying out a new thing called Keep -  you can 'keep' things you like on boards, but rather than digging obsessively like I did for this dress, Keep has direct links to shopping. I am just getting started with my boards and hoping to put more Canvas Interiors goodies on it. You can even follow my boards. Yay!

3. slightly obsessed with finding the perfect ankle skinny in the perfect wash.

4. Boca Grande. Weekend getaway. Can't wait to go back.

5. fashionvibe - always a treat to check in with street style darling Zina.

simple pleasures part deux
